Bob was born May 16, 1925 in Seattle, WA to his parents, Leah and Dave De Lappe. He died peacefully Sunday, November 27, 2016, after three days at Evergreen Hospice. His family gathered in his room creating a wonderful "goodbye party."

Bob was born May 16, 1925 in Seattle, WA to his parents, Leah and Dave De Lappe. He died peacefully Sunday, November 27, 2016, after three days at Evergreen Hospice. His family gathered in his room creating a wonderful "goodbye party."

Bob graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943 and immediately joined the Navy with the dream of becoming a pilot. That dream was realized the day World War II ended. He stayed in the Reserve, being recalled for the Korean Conflict. He attended the Universities of South Carolina and Georgia while in flight school and graduated from the University of Washington in January 1953. He retired from the Navy in 1985.

He met and married Carol Weldon in 1952 and together they had six children. After graduation from the UW, Bob was employed by the Boeing Company. He served Boeing in a number of positions, retiring after 42 years as the Director of Labor Relations, responsible for negotiating and administering the SPEEA labor contracts. Bob married Elaine Coppernoll in 1979.

In addition to his Boeing career, Bob served as the chair of the Advisory Board for the White Center Salvation Army Corps for over 20 years, receiving the "Others Award" in 2004.

Bob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elaine, six children: Debbie Dumont (Jim); Sandra Roe; Scott De Lappe (Teresa A.); Paul De Lappe (Melody); John De Lappe; and Richard De Lappe (Teresa M.); sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Bob was buried in a private ceremony on December 2, 2016 at Tahoma National Cemetery with full military honors. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Issaquah, WA at 11:00 AM. A reception at Beaver Lake Park will be held following the formal service. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Salvation Army or your favorite charity.
